With
audio streaming up to 82% in 2015, I fit in with the majority of people who
access music through digital formats such as Spotify, YouTube and music
streaming apps. Additionally, many songs nowadays are downloaded online
illegally leaving only 5% being brought lawfully online. Other ways that I
consume music are through the means of the radio and music channels, however
this isn’t as often; they aren’t as easily available whereas music downloaded
onto my phone is accessible whenever, wherever. As well as digital copies of
songs, I also owe physical copies in the form of CD’s. I only have 5 disks,
which include a considerable less amount of songs when compared to the amount I
have stored on my phone – this is often the situation for teenagers as digital
copies are easier and simpler to listen to resulting in CD’s slowing by 3.9%.
With this in mind, I am surprised to discover that, in 2015, vinyl sales
climbed by 64% - this could be because of “retro” items becoming more and more trendy. Moreover, I also go to music festivals and gigs in order to listen to songs live.
Due to my music taste being heavily influenced by my parents, my favourite types of music include rock and soul. However I also enjoy songs that have a strong component of the guitar within it because growing up my dad played the guitar, resulting in I also playing it - therefore, this made me appreciate the skill it takes to play the instrument. At the moment my favourite artists are Bob Dylan and David Bowie, and my favourite bands are Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Eden. Although I enjoy a variety of genres, I don't like to listen to songs including heavy dub-step.
